The Mike and Karen Jackson Endowed Scholarship was established to assist juniors and seniors who are majoring in Middle Childhood Education, specializing in Language Arts. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 GPA or if newly enrolled at Ohio University, must be in the top 10 percent of their class. If above criteria does not apply, students can major in Early Childhood Education to Adolescent-to-Young Adult Education specializing in Language Arts.

The Charles D. Joseph Scholarship was established to assist full-time undergraduate students who are admitted to Ohio University and who have graduated from an Ohio school district.

This scholarship was established by Dr. Martha L. King (ELED ’38, B.S. Ed. ’42) to honor the memory of her mother, Ann Kittle King. Recipients of this award must be undergraduate students enrolled full-time in Elementary Education. Students can reside in Athens, Adams, Brown, Fairfield, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Perry, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton, and Washington with preference given to students in Athens and Perry Counties. They must also hold a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Dr. Scott Malcom is an Associate Professor Emeritus of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The recipient of this scholarship must be enrolled in Secondary Math Education and demonstrate academic merit with a grade point average of 3.2 or above.

This scholarship fund was established in honor of Thomas Cooke McCracken who was in the teaching profession for forty-five years as a teacher, principal, college dean, provost, and the national president of Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society. Awardees must be full-time undergraduate students who are residents of Athens County and majoring in education.

This scholarship was established to assist full-time undergraduate students in The Patton College of Education who demonstrate academic merit and are enrolled in a Teacher Education program leading to licensure for grades 7-12.

The Frances P. McNiece Endowed Scholarship was established to support students enrolled in School Counseling. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and a minimum grade point average of 3.25. Preference will be given to master’s students and second preference to doctorate students.

This annual award was established in honor of a former College of Education faculty member, James E. Rodgers (Ph.D. ’64, EMER ’70), and is presented to a student in Education Administration. Ron and Calista (BSEd. ’74) Strickmaker, parents of Stacey Strickmaker, who was born with Down’s Syndrome in 1979, and had a positive impact on the Athens community, established this scholarship to assist a full-time undergraduate Special Education major at the junior or senior level. It is the desire of the Strickmakers to encourage, support and provide a variety of educational and learning experiences to enable people with developmental disabilities to integrate into society and fill valued roles in the community.
